Research

Main domains of interest encompass:
1 - Novel self-assembling supramolecular networks. The goal of the project is to enhance our understanding of the factors that govern the design and successful synthesis of materials (usually coordination compounds) with preprogrammed properties.
2 - Development of new voltammetric sensors for biological applications. Preparation of new materials that can act as systems capable of sensing biologically relevant molecules constitutes significant modern challenge as well as a necessity oriented towards disease preventions.
3 - Design and synthesis of new metal-based chemotherapeutics. The goal of the project is to shed light into understanding of structural prerequisites that must be fulfilled in metal complexes, so that acquisition of antiproliferative effect toward cancerous cell lines is observed.
4 - Lanthanide Single Molecule Magnets - tuning their properties via careful design. The main goal of the project is to gain insight into the magneto-structural correlations that would allow one to tune the behaviour and properties of new Single Molecule Magnets. It focuses mainly on Schiff base ligands and lanthanides as metallic centres, though is not limited solely to those scaffolds.
